SIX Northwood College for Girls alumnae were guests of the Earl of Wessex at a Buckingham Palace Garden Party on Friday (27).

It was one of the first Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award celebration events since the COVID pandemic.

The Earl, chair of Trustees of the Award, hosted the occasion to recognise 3,000 young adults who have completed demanding programmes.

Buckingham Palace garden was transformed into a festival-style setting for the award recipients, including Dominique Olaleye, Sally Tremlett, Naiya Vekaria, Tanya Rangi, Imaan Khokhar and Kritika Sawant.

Guests heard inspirational talks from DofE Award holders, adventurers and explorers. There were also garden games and activities.

Dominique said: “Completing the award from bronze to gold was a fantastic achievement for me, as well as the personal rewards I gained.

“Despite completing the award in 2019, the memories and lessons I have taken away from this experience are still prominent in my mind.”
