SIXTH-formers at Park Academy in Uxbridge defied the disruption caused by COVID-19 to achieve good A-level grades and vocational qualifications.

More than 50% achieved grade A*-C, with the majority also achieving their first-choice university. Most of those taking vocational qualifications achieved Level 3 Distinction.

Suvi Mohey, Principal of the Park View Road school, said the results were a reflection of the hard work of students and the measures put in place by the school to help them succeed.

She added: “I think, if we reflect on this year’s cohort, they had a disruptive Year 11 and didn’t sit any exams as their GCSE grades were teacher-assessed.

“When they came back in Year 12, they still endured disruption following a second lockdown. Year 13 is the only year they haven’t been interrupted and this is the first set of exams they have had to sit.

“They have performed brilliantly and the results are testament to their hard work and resilience.”

Students taking Photography, Art, Business and Health & Social Care achieved 100% A*-C.

Tulsi Dalal, 19, achieved Finance (A), Fine Art (A) BTEC Business Studies (Distinction star)

She said: “The last two years have been a mixture of feelings for me. There was stress but also excitement as we came out of lockdown and resumed classroom learning.

“I didn’t enjoy the online learning as I missed the interaction of being in a classroom.

“I’m looking forward to going to Reading University to do a Fine Arts degree.”
