A HAREFIELD man raised nearly £300 for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre in Northwood by taking part in a Tough Mudder Challenge.

Gary Sexton, 31, a freight forwarder, completed the 10K endurance course with three friends.

The course has 20 different obstacles, including monkey bars, crawling and climbing, aswell as wading through mud, ice water and suffering electric shocks.

Gary said: “With my friend, Michael Perry, passing away due to cancer six years ago and my mum diagnosed with cancer for a second time recently, I wanted to try to do something close to my heart."

The money raised will go towards cancer imaging services at the Paul Strickland Centre, located at Mount Vernon Hospital.

It operates as an independent medical charity and is a recognised centre of excellence and world leader in CT, MRI and PET-CT imaging for cancer.
