MORE people in Hillingdon are needed to volunteer to support the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
The borough needs 100 more stewards to step forward, while existing NHS Volunteer Responders are being asked to reach for their high-viz vests once more.
The COVID-19 booster programme was launched this month, to bolster the immunity of priority groups, including those clinically at risk and people aged 50 and over.
Steward volunteers support NHS staff at vaccination sites with non-clinical tasks, including safe movement of patients through the process.
Shifts are flexible and volunteers have total control over the time they give. Expenses are covered and no experience or qualifications are required.
Two of the sites looking for volunteers are at Eastcote Pharmacy and Stockley Park.
Vijay Arora, an NHS Volunteer Responder, said: “Everyone is so appreciative, and it makes volunteering such an easy and positive thing to do.”
