JEWELLER F Hinds won the Retail Family Business prize at this year’s Family Business Awards.
Based in Park Road, Uxbridge, F Hinds was established in 1856 and has been independently owned and run ever since.
It has retained its reputation for customer service and quality while expanding to 115 stores and 13 Chapelle outlets in the UK.
Seven generations of family have run the company since its opening, and today Andrew, David, Jeremy, Neil and Paul Hinds still work to maintain standards.
F Hinds also has an ethos of social responsibility, supporting causes including Children In Need, Disasters Emergency Committee and British Heart Foundation to the tune of more than £50,000.
Paul Hinds, the present MD, said being a family business was at the heart of the firm’s values. It was part of an under-appreciated sector of the UK economy.
