A proposal gave Albion fans another reason to cheer as the team beat Villa at the weekend.

The Seagulls beat Aston Villa 1-0 at the Premier League fixture at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

Unai Emery had cut a frustrated figure after Villa produced a laboured display by the seaside.

His team were eager to respond after a 4-2 defeat to Olympiacos in the first leg of the Europa Conference League semi-finals on Thursday and appeared on course for a point until the Seagulls were awarded a late penalty.

Erzi Konsa was adjudged to have brought down Simon Adingra and, after Joao Pedro’s spot-kick was saved by Robin Olsen, the Brazil attacker fired home the rebound.

It ended Brighton’s month-long wait for one of their players to score and snapped their six-game winless run in the Premier League.

Before the game kicked off one fan got down on one knee to propose to his partner who said yes.
