Britain’s India Lee has set her sights on laying down a marker ahead of this Saturday’s San Francisco T100 Triathlon.

Lee was first out of the gates to win the inaugural race in the history of the women’s T100 Triathlon at CLASH Endurance Miami, clocking in at 03.27.12, but suffered the disappointment of not finishing the secondrace in Singapore and will now look to bounce back in Northern California.

Hosted at the famous Escape from Alcatraz triathlon, the San Francisco T100 is the third-stage of a worldwide tour that will also see Lee and the T100 travel to London, Ibiza, Las Vegas and Dubai later in the year, and the Briton is determined to put her best foot forward this weekend.

Lee said: ‘‘Miami was a great start to the season and Singapore was a bad race. I’d been ill in the lead-up, so it was a bit of a gamble to start but it was an opportunity to go to a cool city and I wanted to roll the dice and see how I get on.

‘‘Since then, I feel like I’ve got back to full fitness and I’m really looking forward to giving this San Francisco course a crack. It’s a really tough course. There’s been lots of talk about the swim being cold and the challenge of the bike course.

‘‘It’s the opposite of Miami in terms of elevation, technical descents and things like that and you’ve just got to plan your training accordingly so you’re ready to go but I’m looking forward to that challenge.

‘‘I want to feel like I’m back to where I was in Miami. That was a great race, a great experience and I know that’s a performance that I’m capable of replicating so to be able to put together another race at that level would give me a lot of confidence going into the year.’’

The T100 Triathlon World Tour has seen the best and brightest of the sport in competition more frequently than ever before, and Lee is savouring every moment racing against the world’s very best.

Not least the likes of American Taylor Knibb, with the two-time Women's Ironman 70.3 World Champion and one-time Olympic silver medallist the standout name on the lists for Lee.

The Briton added: ‘‘With the T-100, the top 20 in the world are racing more regularly and I think that’ll raise the levels of everyone’s performance up.

‘‘You know that you have got to be at your best if you want to have a chance at being in front of the race. People take no prisoners and you’ve got to be ready to go. There’re no easy wins.

‘‘The race in San Francisco is the first opportunity I get to race Taylor Knibb this year.

‘‘She’s phenomenal. She’s proved that when she starts a T-100 race, she’s very difficult to beat because she’s strong in all three disciplines. Having the opportunity to race her and see where I stack up against her will be good for me in San Francisco.’’
