MORE than £1.4million will be used for road maintenance and community road safety schemes as the result of a £120m cash boost from London mayor Ken Livingstone.
The mayor announced on Wednesday last week that £59.6m would be earmarked for specific borough schemes of which Hillingdon got £1,464m.
Jean Palmer, head of Planning and Transportation, said: "We are looking forward to investing the cash into a number of exciting new transport programmes."
She added: "Over half of the allocation is to be spent enhancing the structural maintenance of principal roads, and a third will help develop local safety schemes.
"The money will also be of benefit to the development of the Safer Routes to Schools initiative."
