AS a toddler, the latest female Asian R'n'B sensation performed by dancing to friends and family at her grandfather's house.

But these days she has sung on two Bollywood film soundtracks and performs in front of thousands of fans all over the world.

Veronica, 26, of Harrow, has just released her debut album entitled Theen (Three), which was produced at the Perivale studios owned by established star Rishi Rich. And unlike other artists trying to break in to the market, she knew it was something she would always achieve.

"When I was younger, my grandfather held mehfil (music) nights and he would invite all his friends and family and I would get up and start dancing in front of everyone and I was just two-years-old," she said. "Performing was in my blood."

Theen is Veronica's first solo album and she is really excited about it. The album got its title as Veronica sings in three different languages on the album which are English, Hindi and Punjabi.

"I'm mostly comfortable singing and writing in English because it's part of my culture but I always check my punjabi and hindi lyrics with my mum to make sure I've got the pronunciation right," she said.

The album is a mix of upbeat dance tracks with one or two ballads and there is even one song which has been given a country and western feel to it and was produced entirely at the Wadsworth Road studios.

The former Bentley Wood pupil would spend all her spare time singing and writing songs even though she was not encouraged by her teachers at the time but she knew singing was what she wanted to do.

Veronica always enjoyed the support of her Hindu-Punjabi family "I started singing professionally from the age of 16 but at that time it was just English Rn'B," she said. "I was writing my own songs from the age of 14 which was when I met Rishi and he encouraged me a lot."

Veronica and Rishi started working together and formed a group called VR1 which was renown for experimenting with traditional Asian music, which was remixed and given an Rn'B twist.

VR1 went on to sell more than 50,000 records throughout the UK and Europe, and picked up two Asian Pop Media Awards.

The Asian starlet continued to go from strength to strength, performing in her own band Sister India and writing songs for other artists but it was her latest partnership with Rishi Rich and 2point9 management which really gave her career a boost.

She said: "Rishi has been a very inspirational part of my life. It has been special because I have been working with him for so long. Something just clicked and it all just took off."

2point9 are responsible for a whole host of up-and-coming Asian artists who are breaking into the mainstream such as Jay Sean, Juggy D and the whole Rishi Rich Project.

Veronica and other members of the Rishi Rich Project can be seen on the big screen in one of the biggest Bollywood movies to be released this year called Kya Kool Hain Hum in which she stars herself.

This is the second Bollywood film Veronica has sung for but only her first ever cameo in an actual film. she recalled: "Rishi was approached by film director Yash Raj to do a song for the film called Hum Tum.

"The film was about a boy/girl relationship so they wanted a boy/girl duet for the film. So Juggy and I came together to perform on the theme song of the film."

The success of Hum Tum gave Veronica and the Rishi Rich project massive exposure in India and the rest of the world and the chance to do it all over again for another Bollywood film. She added: "The next thing we knew, we were flying off to Mumbai to record for Kya Kool Hain Hum but this time we are actually appearing in the movie."

Although Theen has only just hit the shops this week, Veronica has got her sights set on more projects for the future including writing for other artists and even working on her second album.
