London United start the season at London Capitals Capital Academy in the National Trophy on Saturday 17th tip off at 6pm.

United have had the most disjointed pre-season in their history with the late coming together of the roster due to summer injuries and delays with work permits and Visa's.

American signing 6ft 7" Keith Bridges is due to fly into London next week and will miss the game, as will injury victims Mark Quashie, Jacek Jagodka and Tom Frederick who was in a minor car accident after practice last week.

The game is of interest as local rivals Capitals always put up a good fight and are young and athletic.

Although they have not announced their roster it is understood that they have added two strong American's, ex-Sutton Canadian Peter Knetchel and a strong Scottish point guard.

For London United this will be an important start to the season even though they are short of players and they will still field many of last seasons starters with Peter Van Elswyk, Peter Deppisch and Walid Mumuni along with new comers Robert Klocek and Phil Long signed from Solent.

United then go into a National Cup 2nd round game against London Towers second team at their new home at Brunel in Osterley on Sunday 25th and then the following weekend take on Division 1 newcomers Kings Lynn in the National Trophy.

Coaches Majewski and Schiller believe that they need to somehow get through this weekends game before having the time to get the squad re-assembled for the following couple of weeks going into the EBL Divisional league games.

"This game represents a tough start for us considering our preparation has been so poor but we hope to get things back on course over the next two weeks" says Schiller.

United have aspirations of gaining their first silverware this season and believe they have enough strength in depth to achieve this.
