Specialised exercises for women with breast cancer began at Mount Vernon Hospital on Tuesday.
They are being run by Angela Cox a qualified dance and exercise teacher who has taught both adults and children for more than 20 years.
Angela herself has had a very close association with the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre (LJMC) For Cancer Support and Information based at the hospital in Rickmansworth Road since she was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago.
'This will be the first of its kind in Europe to help what is a growing number of women in their prime to continue to enjoy an active life,' said Polly Butts, the LJMC fund-raising co-ordinator.
All money raised through the classes, which cost £3.50, go to the hospital. Classes are held every Tuesday from 1pm to 2pm at Owen Butterworth Hall, will go to the centre.
Women who would like to attend should bring a letter from their GP, breast cancer nurse or consultant.
For more information on the classes, call 01923 844 014.
