WITH the number of Hillingdon voters on the rise, will May 3 see the highest ever borough turnout for the London elections?
Almost 20% more Hillingdon people voted in the 2008 London elections than in 2004.
A total of 81,418 went to the polls to select a Mayor of London and London Assembly member.
London Elects - the body that runs the elections on May 3 - last week launched their How Do You Like Your London? Campaign, hoping to encourage even more voters to the stations.
Kathy Gibbons, 49, of Ruislip, said: “Votes really count if you want work to be done in your area.”
Daughter Charlotte, 20, will also be voting. She said: “If you want a positive change in society I think it is really important to vote.”
Sarah Garrett, communications manager at London Elects, said: "You might think you don't like politics or it doesn't affect you, but once these 26 people are elected they will make decisions on your everyday life in London for the next four years. It's about everything from transport and policing, to housing and the environment.”
