BOROUGH MPs Nick Hurd (Ruislip) and John Randall (Uxbridge), together with neighbouring Beaconsfield MP Dominic Grieve, have written another joint letter to Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.
They call for the Government to drop plans for a Heathrow Spur to HS2, the high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham.
They remind the Transport Secretary the Spur is not part of the initial preferred route for phase two of HS2 and suggest no business case has been made for it.
“We also note your comments about the other options to secure connectivity to Heathrow, including Old Oak Common (at Acton) and direct links from the Midlands and North,” say the MPs in their note.
“We also appreciate your recognition of the potentially negative impact on our constituents of the continued existence of the Spur option as a line on the map.
“We continue to believe the desired integration of HS2 with Heathrow can be achieved in a more cost-effective way that delivers a more regular and convenient service for customers.”
The three MPs have asked for a meeting with the minister after the summer recess to make their views known in person.
