HOT-SHOT table tennis players from Harefield Academy took top honours in the U19 boys category in the West London regional final of the Jack Petchey Foundation London Schools Team Finals held in Willesden.
The competition bought together 34 teams from 14 different schools in Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.
The boys U19 team consisted of Danny Lewis, Nicholas Li, Mitchell Jones, all aged 17, and Ben Naylor Smith, 14.
The older three have been playing together for five years and Ben joined three years ago. They have all played in this competition before and won in both team and singles events.
Danny and Mitchell have represented their school at a competition in Italy.
Head coach Eli Baraty said “They are good kids and table tennis is helping them develop good characters to become champions.”
The Jack Petchey championships aimed to increase participation and awareness of table tennis in London schools.
Benefactor Jack Petchey, CBE, aged 89 and founder of the JPF, has been a fan of table tennis since his youth.
