NATIONAL Table Tennis Day was celebrated by 70 girls from schools across London at a special This Girl Can Ping event in Westminster.
This annual celebration of the sport was introduced by Table Tennis England in 2014.
All participants received free bats, T-shirts, certificates and gift bags, courtesy of sponsors Jack Petchey Foundation and Table Tennis England.
Five students from Ealing Fields School, aged 12, and eight from Uxbridge High School, aged 11-14, joined in a range of activities.
Uxbridge PE teacher Rosie Gardner said: “We have several tables at the school, all well used, but more boys play than girls.
“The girls will take back ideas and lead on lessons with other students. We expect them to be more enthusiastic and take on the boys.”
