Two goals in the final five minutes saw Uxbridge’s bid for an eighth win of the season fall agonisingly short with a 3-2 defeat at struggling Northwood.

First-half efforts from Mark Bitmead and Mahlondon Martin had looked to put the visitors in the boxseat, with their impressive start to the season set to get even better.

But Charlie Hayford’s penalty five minutes from time and Luke Holness’ strike just a minute from the end saw Northwood take the points after Harry Lodovica’s opener.

The loss saw Uxbridge miss out on going second in the Isthmian South Central table, though 23 points from their opening 13 games represents an impressive haul to date.

The Reds are back on the road on Saturday, with a trip to South Park next on their agenda as they look to get back to winning ways.

South Park have struggled for consistency so far this season with their last home outing ending in underwhelming fashion, thrashed 5-0 at home to mid-table Barking.
