Mark McCall is bracing his Saracens side for a stern test against a ‘really strong’ Gloucester outfit ahead of Saturday’s clash between the play-off hopefuls at The StoneX Stadium.

Sarries enjoyed a successful festive period, racking up convincing wins over Worcester Warriors and Northampton Saints, while the Cherry and Whites will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing start to 2022 that saw them lose 20-17 at home to Harlequins last time out.

However, McCall insists he and his side won't be resting on their laurels heading into what is set to be a captivating contest.

He said: "Gloucester are a really strong team with good fundamentals.

"Their pack is strong with a good scrum, line-out and driving maul.

"Their half-backs are playing well, and they have an exciting backline.

"They are a dangerous side. This will be our sixth home game in the league, and if we can win, it will leave us in a good position."

Sarries have made five changes from the side that dispatched Saints on the second day of 2022.

Vincent Koch has returned to the front row after isolating with COVID-19, and Tim Swinson comes back into the XV with Nick Isiekwe moving to the back-row to accommodate him.

Dom Morris, Andy Christie and Rotimi Segun complete the changes to the starting XV for McCall's side.

George Skivington has also made five changes to his starting team for the weekend.

Santiago Carreras, Mark Atkinson, Jonny May, Charlie Chapman and Alex Seville all come into the starting 15 for the Cherry and Whites.

Gloucester Rugby attack coach Alex King praised Saracens ahead of the match and said: "Their record speaks for itself.

"It's a tough place to go but we're incredibly excited for the challenge that presents itself.

"We know all about them but for us, it's all about focusing on our development and our learning."
