THE second library to go through a modernisation program in the borough has re-opened today.

The event will be marked with a coffee morning, as well as free children's craft sessions throughout the day.

Manor Farm Library, in Bury Street, Ruislip, has been completely refurbished as part of Hillingdon Council's plans to modernise its library network.

New features include extended opening hours a revised stock system and free access to Apple Mac computers.

The council says Ruislip Manor Library, in Linden Avenue, which was the first to be re-vamped, has seen increased visitor numbers.

Councillor Henry Higgins, who is responsible for culture, sport and leisure said: "The popularity of the new Ruislip Manor Library has been outstanding and we are pleased to be opening another improved library facility in Hillingdon.

"We've welcomed over 1,100 new members to Ruislip Manor Library so far and hope people will take the opportunity to come and use Manor Farm with the same enthusiasm."

Manor Farm Library is on an historic site, next to Manor Farm House, a Grade II listed building.
