A MAN from Perivale is to cycle 100 miles for Macmillan Cancer Trust on the weekend of August 3-4.

Craig Nicol, a dad of four, has raised £45,000 for Macmillan on past rides, such as across the Pyrenees in 2011.

Mr Nicol, 39, who has committed to doing at least one ride every year for the trust, will tackle the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100.

He will be up among 20,000 riders on the 100-mile route, finishing on The Mall in central London.

He said: “My wife lost her father to cancer six weeks before we got married and her family has been affected by cancer, so it is always there in the background.

“But it really hit home for me when one of my friends, who is the same age, as me got testicular cancer and the things that Macmillan did for him were just amazing.

“The support they offered him was second to none and, when his washing machine broke, they came round and got him a new one and had it all installed. They are amazing.”

He already has £4,000 in pledges for the ride, which organisers want to make the largest charity fund-raising cycle event in the world.
