THE legacy of London 2012 was celebrated by a disability sports festival in Hillingdon on the anniversary of the day the Olympic torch blazed a trail through the borough.
The Shining Light festival was run by the council with PRO-ACTIVE West London, a partnership of organisations that promote sport and fitness, and took place on Wednesday at Brunel University Sports Park.
Adults with a range of disabilities had the chance to try seven different activities: football, cricket, boccia, golf, dance, judo and circus skills.
Anyone whose interest was kindled could ask for advice from community groups such as Hayes Cricket Club and charities like DASH on taking part more regularly.
Cllr Douglas Mills, Cabinet Member for Community, Commerce and Regeneration, said: "We have invested heavily in top-class leisure facilities, including the recent £5.7m refurbishment of Highgrove Pool and Fitness Centre, to ensure there are plenty of opportunities to exercise in Hillingdon.
"Residents can also explore one of more than 200 parks and green spaces or join one of our excellent local sports clubs.”
