Saturday Night is Music Night invite from Hillingdon Philharmonic
FOR its next performance, the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra will present an evening of classical ‘pops’ for Midsummer’s Day, in the stunning surroundings of the 13th Century Great Barn at Manor Farm, Ruislip.
The programme will comprise countless favourite, including Massenet’s Meditation from Thais, Elgar’s Chanson de Matin, Mendelssohn’s Incidental Music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a medley of Abba classics!
Also included are a selection from The King and I by Rodgers & Hammerstein and Klaus Badelt’s soundtrack for the original Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
The aim is for people to relax and enjoy a fun evening of music. The selection promises to include something for everyone and most probably one or more of your own Desert Island Discs.
In fact, the theme from Desert Island Discs, Coates’ By The Sleepy Lagoon, will also be performed to put you in the mood!
The concert will provide the rare opportunity to experience music live in the stunning surroundings of the 13th Century Great Barn.
Thought to be built around 1280 this wonderful venue, now frequently used for weddings, is a focal point for the borough’s flagship heritage and culture site at Manor Farm.
It will be the first time the orchestra has performed there and the group is looking forward to the new experience it will offer for the audience.
