MITCHELL JONES from Harefield Academy took top honours in the fourth annual Jack Petchey Foundation London Schools’ Table Tennis singles final at the University of East London.
More than 400 young people competed in school competitions and regional finals ahead of the day.
There were singles champions in categories from under-11 to under-19s. In all, 93 players from 47 schools took to the tables.
Under 19 winner Mitchell Jones beat Anthony Ki, of Dulwich College, in the final 3-0 (11-6 11-8 11-4).
The Jack Petchey initiative is designed to get more young people playing the sport at school for fun and also to compete.
The project also includes the donation of indoor and outdoor table tennis tables.
