PUPILS at Botwell House Catholic Primary School in Hayes have been busy transforming their playground into a clean air zone.
The project, run in partnership with Hillingdon Council and environmental group Goundwork, encouraged them to learn about sustainability whilst making a positive change to the world around them.
The school, part of the Greener Cleaner Hayes Forum, organised a planting day, when teachers and pupils were joined by council staff in helping to create green pollution barriers in the playground.
Climbing plants were put by fences, raised planters and seating were built and panels designed by the children were placed in each planter.
Cllr Allan Kauffman and Hayes and Harlington MP John McDonnell attended an official opening of the clean air zone and presentation by pupils on what they had learnt and achieved.
