TWO Hillingdon Victoria Cross recipients were honoured on Tuesday in advance of Remembrance Day services this Sunday.
Plaques were laid for Robert Edward Rider and Cecil John Kinross, who were awarded the VC during World War One, in a ceremony at Harefield War Memorial attended by family members.
Remembrance services will take place all over the borough on Sunday and the Royal British Legion will march from Uxbridge fire station to the war memorial at St John the Baptist Church.
"It is important to recognise Hillingdon's heritage and those who have been part of our community,” said Hillingdon Council leader Ray Puddifoot.
“Their acts of bravery are something Hillingdon should be very proud of."
Further services will take place at war memorials around the borough, including at the Uxbridge Peace Memorial and Northolt’s Polish War Memorial.
