EVENTS to mark Foster Care Fortnight and to encourage people to find out more about becoming a foster carer are being organised by Hillingdon Council.

It is an annual national campaign to raise the profile of fostering and highlight the urgent need for more carers for children of all ages.

This year it takes place from June 1-14 and the theme is 'making a connection'.

Events include: June 1-7, Fostering drop-in at Intu Uxbridge Shopping Centre (outside HMV on lower ground level) during shopping centre opening hours. No booking required, just go along.

Friday, June 5, 12.30-2.30pm Drop-in information session at Hayes Muslim Centre, Pump Lane.

Tuesday June 9, 6.30-8.30pm Fostering information evening at the Civic Centre, Uxbridge There are currently 329 children in care in Hillingdon and 92 foster carers.

The borough needs a range of foster carers: short-term, long-term, respite and parent and child.

It requires carers who can look after children of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, in particular school-age children and teenagers, including sibling groups and children with special or complex needs.
