COMMUTERS affected by the London tube strike on Thursday are being offered free workspace in Uxbridge.
Global workspace provider Regus has said it will come to the aid of businesses as a 24-hour strike by London Underground workers is expected to bring travel chaos to the capital from 6.30pm tomorrow.
The planned action by members from the Aslef, RMT, TSSA and Unite unions, who are demanding better pay and conditions, will cripple the Tube network for the second time in a month after the first London-wide shutdown in 13 years in July.
Workers who cannot get to their normal location this Thursday will be given free access to the Regus centre business lounge on Oxford Road, Uxbridge, which provides professional workspace, wifi and complementary refreshments.
Regus expects demand for workspace to be high throughout the strikes as commuters seek places to work locally.
Richard Morris, their UK CEO, said: “Working from home is not convenient for everyone. Most people prefer to leave the house and work in a more productive environment.
“The Tube strikes don’t have to mean lost productivity, but they are a wake-up call for employers who haven’t adopted flexible working and addressed the practical challenges.”
