Love Your Clothes is hosting a free sewing workshop on November 20 to help people upcycle last year’s Christmas jumpers.
UK consumers spend more than £300 million on Christmas jumpers, and two fifths of people plan on wearing them just once or twice.
This event at Wealdstone Library at 11am will equip those in attendance with simple skills needed to customise clothes.
Ali Moore, from Love Your Clothes London, said: “Rather than buying new Christmas jumpers and party outfits which may only be worn once and then thrown away, we’re encouraging Londoners to upcycle last year’s Christmas jumpers.
“By coming along to these fun workshops, they could come away with not only a truly unique item of clothing, but also feeling inspired to support more sustainable fashion.
“The festive season can be a time of excess and waste, but we want to show people how simple and cheap changes can really make a huge difference to their wardrobes and the environment.”
