A deer got “well and truly stuck” in a tiny four inch gap between two houses.

Rescuers from the RSPCA were alerted to the situation when homeowners heard banging in Cassiobury Drive, Watford, on June 25.

The deer, a female muntjac, was discovered wedged upside down and struggling to get free.

The RSPCA’s Inspector Jaime Godfrey helped the deer.

He said: “I have no idea how she managed to get stuck like that upside down - it was bizarre.

“To have got herself stuck like this she must have jumped whilst in the gap as it narrowed, then got her shoulders stuck and her rear-end whipped over the top, turning her upside down.”

Working from above and looking down into the narrow gap, Jaime managed to use a grasper to get hold of the deer and slowly pull her up.

The doe had some injuries and scratches but was not seriously hurt.

The deer was later released into Cassiobury Park.

Inspector Godfrey said: “She was understandably extremely distressed and frightened so I decided to release her as quickly as possible.
