RESIDENTS in a small Hillingdon cul-de-sac could soon be invaded by cars after plans for a nearby block of flats were approved on Tuesday, August 21.

The proposed access to the two-storey high flats would be through Sheridan Close.

However, the address of the proposed properties will be in Pole Hill Road, behind houses in the close.

Although planning permission was granted, the issue of access will still have to be brought before a planning committee for approval.

At the meeting, councillors decided the matter would have to be decided in future, as constructing access gates in the cul-de-sac would involve knocking down a wall.

This demolition was not covered by the application to build the flats.

Homeowners in Sheridan Close and on Alpha Road put together a petition to oppose the application, arguing that they would experience a loss of privacy.

Mick Mooney, has lived in Sheridan Close for 17 years.

He said: "I am going to fight this all the way. There is no way this will work and it is just invading our privacy.

"They have approved the plans to build the flats but they haven't approved the access to the flats. I don't know what will happen next, but all I know is the decision is ridiculous."

Peter Murdoch, has lived in Alpha Road for 11 years. His garage is in Sheridan Close and will be the one nearest to the proposed access if the gates are approved.

He said: "It is just senseless that the planning permission has been granted. There's going to be so much traffic going up and down our road, and into Sheridan Close - and I can see so many problems in the future if the gates are put there."
