UNIVERSITY Technical College Heathrow, based at Northwood Hills, has a new partnership with construction consultancy Soben to give students essential knowledge and skills for the data centre sector.
The sector is growing rapidly but is facing a skills shortage.
The intake for UTC’s Digital Futures Programme is limited to 100 students at age 14, with 150 students studying the Level 3 engineering curriculum.
Younger students will compete in industry challenge days, to bring subjects to life, alongside studying for their GCSEs.
Scott Smith, Soben’s founder and Group CEO, said: “The skills gap is not getting any smaller or easier for the industry and we need to work collaboratively.”
