A PLEA to keep Uxbridge police station open has been sent to the Met Police Commissioner by Uxbridge and South Ruislip Labour candidate Danny Beales.

Sir Mark Rowley is reviewing the force’s property estate and, therefore, which London police stations will remain open.

Uxbridge is one of three serving Hillingdon, where 26,744 crimes were reported last year.

Along with Cllr Peter Curling, the Labour leader on Hillingdon Council, Mr Beales has written an open letter urging the Commissioner to keep Uxbridge as an operational base.

They also want him to reopen the cells at Uxbridge and to ensure a fair number of community support officers be allocated to Hillingdon.

Mr Beales wants residents of all political leanings to sign the open letter and express support for Uxbridge police station.

He said: “Residents are rightly worried about the rise in local crime, particularly vehicle theft, burglary and anti-social behaviour. Many are now concerned that, when things go wrong, no-one will be there to help.

“Uxbridge is the most populous area in the borough and cannot afford to be policed from a distance.”
