FOR its next performance, the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to a concert of music from America, including favourites by Bernstein, Copland, Gershwin, Ellington, Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Highlights will include a selection from West Side Story, Bernstein’s music for the Broadway musical, later adapted into two acclaimed films.

A medley from Porgy and Bess will also feature, including some of Gershwin’s most famous music, such as Summertime and It Ain’t Necessarily So.

Any musical tour of America would not be complete without the music of Aaron Copland, and this concert will not disappoint with favourites such as his Fanfare for the Common Man and Hoe-Down from his ballet Rodeo.

Classic after classic…this concert promises to sweep you along with a selection from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! before the final Liberty Bell by Sousa.

Hillingdon Philharmonic has more than 60 registered members and has performed at venues throughout Hillingdon, as well as the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Southwark Cathedral.

Music from America will be led by Lucy Cumming and conducted by the founder of the orchestra, Peter J Williams.
