AN open day is being held at a market garden site in Sipson.
Community activists from Transition Heathrow swooped on the abandoned market garden site in March this year, and four months on it has now become a beacon of community strength and a great example of how to live sustainably.
Around 30 tons of rubbish has been taken away, greenhouse windows have been replaced, plants and vegetables are growing, kitchens and compost toilets have been built, workshops have been held and residents are paying regular visits and donating items.
On Sunday July 18, from 3-6pm, everyone in the community is invited to visit the site.
At the open day there will be guided tours and talks, as well as tea and cake.
Residents can find out more about Transition Heathrow and voice any ideas for what the land could be used for.
The open day is being held at Grow Heathrow, Vineries Close, Sipson, West Drayton, UB7 0JG.
