UXBRIDGE College has retained top spot as the best college in London for educating young people – for the fourth year running.

The College has come top in Learning and Skills Council tables, beating 35 other further education providers in the capital.

The College, which has campuses in Uxbridge and Hayes, showed a success rate of 86% for 16-18 year-olds on long qualifications in for 2008-9. These qualifications - mainly lasting a year or more - are taken by around 3,000 full-time students.

Laraine Smith, Principal of Uxbridge College, said: “It takes a lot of hard work to stay at the top and I am incredibly proud of everyone at Uxbridge College who has made this possible. It is a real tribute to everything our students and staff have done that we are now number one college for educating young people for the fourth year.

“This pole position reflects the ongoing achievements of our students, who fulfil their potential with the help of some of the highest quality teaching and personal support available. It starts with making sure students are enrolled on the right course and continues by providing all the resources they need to do their best.

“Whether our students are taking GCSEs, A Levels, BTECs or NVQs, many show incredible progress during their time here. At Uxbridge College everyone has an opportunity to do their best.

“We are now looking forward to maintaining the momentum from this excellent achievement and carrying through with another successful year.”
