An attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest footprint painting is being held on Ealing Common this Sunday.

Creative Campus are aiming to raise money for the victims of the tragic earthquake in Japan, with all proceedings going towards the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund.

The event, called ‘Ai Japan’, which literally means “Love Japan”, will run from 10am to 5pm.

The organisation believes in using artistic activities to contribute towards positive social change and is calling for people to join them.

Jignesh Patel, founder of Creative Campus, said: “The goal of this event is obviously to raise funds, but if I can start to inspire people to do something for society, then that would be great.

“We are all too busy with our jobs, friends, personal troubles – we all need to do something.”

Mr Patel previously broke the Guinness World Record for the largest finger painting in Brent County and Vancouver respectively, and this time he is using a 14,000sq ft canvas to break another record.

Thousands of people, including 200 volunteers from all ages and ethnic backgrounds, are expected to attend and help raise the £10,000 target.

As having a Guinness World Record representative will cost £4,000, Mr Patel has decided to send documents of proof to them, which costs nothing, so that all the money will go to those suffering in Japan.

Monark Bhojani, a key member of Creative Campus, was moved by the stories he heard in Japan through his friend, who was a reporter there.

He spoke of an incident where there were hundreds of people queuing at a building for accommodation, which only had space for 35 people.

However no-one would go in because they wanted someone else to take their place.

He said: “The whole community got together after the earthquake and helped each other.

“I have never heard anything like this before.”

He added that all the materials, such as paint and canvass, are from donations so 100% of money raised will go towards the relief fund.
