The Guinness World Record for the largest footprint painting was broken at Ealing Common on Sunday.

More than 400 people, including 100 Creative Campus volunteers, attended the event and helped to raise £4000 for the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund.

Creative Campus is an organisation that uses art to help people around the world, create initiatives and inspire other people.

Jignesh Patel, the founder, said: “It went really well, despite the windy conditions.

“There was good team support and we did something great for the community.”

All the material used was donated, including 150 different paint colours and 16,000sq ft of canvas, which contributed to the thousands of footprints stamped by the participants.

Monark Bhojani, a key member in implementing this project, said: “It was a really nice experience and there is a smile on everyone’s face.

“Art is what we can do and we used it to raise money for another community.”

The event was called “Ai Japan”, which literally means, “Love Japan”.

It was put in motion after the team were moved by the events in Japan and also because they related to the earthquake in India in 2001.

Pareena Khairdin, communications officer for Creative Campus, said: “We just have to help others and build bridges for a good cause.

“A lot of money came from our own pockets, but my colleagues and I believed in this worthy cause.”

The mayor, John Gallagher, and council leader, Julian Bell, also attended the event.
