ONE of the stars of BBC’s The Apprentice, Melody Hossaini, presented awards to Uxbridge College students at the Beck Theatre, Hayes, last week.

Winners were chosen from the college’s 10,000 full- and part-time students, and Melody spoke of her career before answering questions and posing for photos with students.

Lord Sugar described her as “a woman of exceptional ability” on the business reality series earlier this year – and it’s a description that could easily apply to another talented young woman present on the night.

Student Sabyha Khan, 18, was the overall winner and collected the Super Star prize from Melody after achieving one of the college’s best ever A-level scores with two A*s and two As.

Sabyha, who will be studying medicine at Cambridge University, helped tutor other students in ‘maths clinics’ during her time at the college.

She was also a major part its victorious public speaking team in the heats of the Rotary Youth Speaks competition and acted as campaign manager for the successful candidate in the college elections.

Melody was born in Iran and runs InspirEngage International, an organisation that provides training and support for children and young people.

She told the mostly young audience: “Many people out there would envy you being an age where you have your whole lives ahead of you.

“It’s such an exciting place to be.”

College principal Laraine Smith said: “I would like to congratulate everyone who has been recognised tonight – they are all amazing in their own ways and richly deserve their awards.”
