RECORD numbers are expected at the Civic Centre Ice Rink in Uxbridge this Christmas.

The rink will open to the public on December 2 from 10am to 9pm every day except Christmas Day. New Year’s Day will be the last day of skating.

Tickets have been frozen at last year’s prices: adults: £5 (off peak) and £7 (peak); children and concessions: £3.50 (off peak) and £5.50 (peak) or family tickets £14 (off peak) and £20 (peak).

Last year, more than 11,500 visitors enjoyed using the rink and double the number of tickets were sold, compared to the previous year.

Winter revellers can also enjoy festive music, which will be played out over the sound system during skating sessions.

This year, the borough has introduced penguin stabilisers for children on the ice, to build confidence, provide support and reduce the risk of injury.

Adults must accompany children aged 4-7 on the rink, with a maximum of two children with each adult.

Skaters are advised to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of their session to allow sufficient time to be fitted with skates.

The cost of the ticket includes skate and penguin hire.

Booking opens on November 21, online through www.hillingdon.gov.uk/icerink or by calling 01895 558347. On-the-day sales are available at the rink from December 2.
