A HAYES housewife and Hugo, a five-year-old Otterhound, proved every dog does have its day after walking away with a top prize at Crufts.
Hugo was one of more than 26,000 healthy, happy dogs at Birmingham's NEC and claimed the prestigious Best of Breed award from the Kennel Club at the weekend.
Owner Rae Ganna, of Charville Lane, fought off competition from 31 other owners to scoop the coveted prize before going on to compete for best in group.
Mrs Ganna, beaming with pride, said: “I’ve been exhibiting at Crufts for ten years now and I’ve had a bit of success in that time.
“Hugo won best of breed last year but to come back this time around and defend the title is a fantastic feeling.
“Hugo’s a great dog but you never know what the judges’ preference is going to be, so you can’t be sure about where you will come.
“We’ve enjoyed this year’s experience, much like we did last year, and to win best of breed is a super achievement.”
