EXCITED pupils at Charville Primary School, Hayes, celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style with a fairground and picnic lunch on Friday.
The children, from nursery to year six, visited the fairground on the school field, where they enjoyed bouncy castles and fairground rides.
The Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Michael Markham, crowned the winner of a portrait competition – with a child from each year winning a prize for the best picture of the Queen.
Each child spent an hour in the fairground, funded by the school governors with no cost to parents.
The week began with assemblies based on the Queen’s life and her 60-year reign, followed by the making of crowns, tiaras and scrapbooks.
Nicola Harding, assistant head teacher, said: “I think the children now understand more about who the Queen is and what she has brought to the country over the last 60 years.”
