ASPIRE, a charity that helps people paralysed by spinal cord injury, launched a new accessible home in Hayes on Friday, in partnership with Thames Valley Housing.
Hayes & HarlingtonMP John McDonnell spoke at the opening in Dudley Place, off Pinkwell Lane.
Every eight hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury.
For those who are newly injured, where they are going to live when they get out of hospital is a major worry.
Many face the prospect of delayed discharge, going into nursing homes or having to live in unsuitable housing.
Aspire houses are used on a short-term basis while a permanent solution is found.
