A CHARITY supported by actress Dame Helen Mirren has installed and trained staff in the use of life-saving equipment at a junior school in Eastcote.
Sudden Adult Death Syndrome UK is lobbying the Government with its Big Shock Campaign to make all schools have defibrillators in place.
Head teacher Sheila Pikulski, of Field End Junior School, said: “The children are always our first priority.
“We want to make sure we are equipped for their medical needs.”
While CPR (chest compression) provides a 5% chance of survival, the use of a defibrillator increases the chances to more than 50%.
The charity has installed defibrillators in more than 1,000 locations. In 2012, footballer Fabrice Muamba’s recovery was aided by the immediate use of a defibrillator.
