AN intrepid West Drayton woman trekked 100km with a group of family and friends to raise money for a Northwood charity on August Bank Holiday weekend.

Nicholla Cooper and her team walked the gruelling distance for the South Coast Challenge.

The challenge offers walkers, joggers or runners a chance to experience some of England’s finest scenery, starting in Eastbourne and ending in historical Arundel.

The group took on the demanding challenge to raise money for the Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood and have raised £2,660 so far.

The team, calling themselves ‘The Coopers Troopers’, were walking in memory of Ms Cooper’s dad Phillip, who passed away from cancer at the hospice earlier this year.

Ms Cooper said: “We wanted to do something epic in memory of my Dad.

“We thought that this challenge would be perfect as my dad absolutely loved the seaside.

“The care the hospice provides is outstanding, they do amazing work.

“Not only do they support the patients in their care but also their families.

“The nurses really helped us through some emotionally devastating times.”

It costs the hospice £6,000 a day to maintain their current care levels, and it relies heavily on charitable donations.

Ms Cooper and the team are hoping to raise around £4,000 in total with the help of National Grid, who are matching a proportion of the total amount they raise.
