CHARVILLE ACADEMY ended their annual Science week with a fair attended by the Mayor of Hillingdon on Saturday.

John Hensley and his wife Diane attended the science fair that showcased a variety of inventions by pupils of the academy on the theme of ‘Change the future for the better’ on October 8.

The mayor was part of a panel of judges who awarded prizes to worthy inventors.

Inventions by pupils included solar-powered hair straighteners which impressed the judges with their innovation and ingenuity.

Science week at the academy promotes investigations and enquiry-based learning.

Throughout the week, pupils were encouraged to feed their curiosity through classroom studies and workshops organised by Fizzpop Science.

All pupils met and worked with a local scientist, Mr Wallace, who explained how he worked on soil structure and building foundations for some of London’s famous buildings including The Shard.

Charville Academy believes in providing first class learning and opportunities for all pupils to develop their curiosity about the world around them.
