HAYES and Harlington MP John McDonnell visited Tesco’s in-store food bank to support their ninth Neighbourhood Food Collection scheme this week.

Thanks to their ongoing partnership with the Trussell Trust and FareShare, and the generosity of Tesco's customers, Tesco were able to provide more than 2.8 million meals to people in need at their last UK wide collection.

On the visit the shadow chancellor met with the volunteers running the food bank, Tesco employees and spoke with customers to encourage them to donate to the food bank.

The Labour MP said: “It’s a disgrace that we have a Government at the moment who can’t even feed its own people.

"However it was heart-warming to see the generosity of Tesco's customers who were giving away what they can to help others this Christmas.

"I want to thank all the volunteers who have worked really hard to set up and manage the food bank and all Hayes residents who have donated food and other basic items."
