People in Northolt and Yeading are being invited to give their views on proposals for a new community centre, with enabling residential development, at the Grand Union Village.

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is working in partnership with the Grand Union Village Community Development Trust (CDT) to draw up proposals for the scheme on land to the south of Grand Union Village, before it considers submitting a planning application to the local authority.

The land remains unoccupied following the wider development of the surrounding site, and was originally designated for leisure use as part of former outline planning consent.

With no end user identified, Taylor Wimpey and the CDT are exploring the possibility of developing the land, with the community centre handed over to the CDT’s ownership.

Andrew Holloway, Senior Planning Manager for Taylor Wimpey North Thames, says: “As a considerate, responsible developer we want to give people the chance to have their say on development plans for their area – and this is why we are inviting the local community to find out more about our proposals for land south of Grand Union Village.

“Anyone who comes along to the public exhibition on Wednesday 22nd March will be able to speak to members of our project team to find out more about our emerging proposals and provide their feedback to help us explore the possibility of developing plans.”

The housebuilder is now seeking views from the community on whether the scheme would be supported and how the plans for the new community centre could be refined.

Further information about the proposals will be unveiled during a public exhibition to be held at the Grand Union Village Community Development Trust, Higham Mews, Northolt, UB5 6FP, on Wednesday 22nd March from 3pm to 8pm.

The public consultation event will give local residents, businesses, community groups and other interested parties the chance to find out more about the scheme and discuss the plans with the Taylor Wimpey and CDT project team.

Comments received from those who attend the event will help shape the development proposals before a planning application is considered for submission to the council.

Under the proposals, Taylor Wimpey would provide a new community building which would be funded through the development of a mix of housing types to suit a range of purchasers, including a selection of two‑bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Approximately 50% of the new properties will also be delivered as affordable homes for local people in housing need.

Taylor Wimpey’s public exhibition is taking place at Grand Union Village Community Development Trust, Higham Mews, Northolt, UB5 6FP, on Wednesday 22nd March from 3pm to 8pm, and all are welcome.

Those who are unable to attend will be able to access the information displayed at the event online at www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/grandunionvillage from March 22 onwards.
