Hillingdon residents will are now able to download eBooks to their computers and devices for free thanks to a new app launched by Hillingdon Libraries.

The BorrowBox app, which went live in the borough on Monday, gives library members access to international titles by their favourite authors from the comfort of their own homes.

Library members can use the app to download books onto smartphones, tablets or computers, or use the app's inbuilt eBook reader and eAudiobook player.

Councillor Richard Lewis, cabinet member for central services, culture and heritage, said: "Our libraries are continuing to move with the times, ensuring that our residents have unlimited access to an ever-expanding wealth of great titles. 

"For Hillingdon residents who enjoy reading or listening to books but find it hard to get to a library, this service promises to be absolutely invaluable."

Hillingdon Libraries also offers Zinio, an app that allows members to download and read digital editions of popular magazines for free, and PressReader, where residents can read the full print versions of newspapers and magazines on-screen.
