CARE workers been making residents’ wishes come true at Aston House Care Home in Hayes.

The Grant a Wish project was thought up to motivate residents and get them to take part in activities they enjoy or related to hobbies they had when they were younger.

Most recent beneficiaries of the initiative, by care home providers HC-One  are Kenneth Fisher, Kenneth Simms, Edward Piper and Arthur Smith, who were whisked off for a VIP tour of Wembley Stadium.

As keen football fans, the four friends shared a ‘wish’ to visit the home of English football and, thanks to the effort of Wellbeing Co-ordinator Laura Baumane and the team at Aston House, they spent a day at the stadium.

Holding the FA Cup in his hands, Kenneth Fisher was filled with emotion. He said: “It was a real honour and I won’t forget it. It was one of the best days of my life.”

Other residents have already benefited from the scheme, with day trips to the park with friends, through to enjoying a pint of Guinness and a fish and chip dinner.

Aston House in Angel Lane, Hayes End, offers residential, dementia and nursing care.
