LINDA Devine has been caring for the elderly and vulnerable residents of Hillingdon since 1997, a job she absolutely adores.

In fact, she loves being a care worker so much she says she feels lucky to be able to call it a job!

For her selfless commitment to clients and her kindness to others, Linda, who lives in Hillingdon with her family, has just been named Care Worker of the Month, by Caremark Hillingdon.

Linda, 64, has worked with Caremark for four years and recently decided to delay her retirement for another year so she can continue working with the team of office staff, care workers and service users.

“Everyone at Caremark Hillingdon absolutely adores Linda. I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about her,” said care manager Christina McFadden.

“The incredible work she does with her clients doesn’t go unnoticed. She treats her regulars like friends and makes them feel so at ease.

“Honouring Linda in this way was a no-brainer, really. She does so much for others and she’s just an all-round, lovely person.

“It isn’t just her clients she looks out for. She’s also a great mentor for the younger carers, and the team just can’t help but smile when Linda’s around.

Linda, who has 20 years of experience in health and social care, was thrilled to receive her award.

A grandmother, she has also been a registered foster carer in Hillingdon since 1999, fostering 30 children.

Christina and the office team surprised her with a winner’s prize of a £50 Marks & Spencer gift voucher – and she already has an idea of what she might treat herself to!

“It was lovely to feel so appreciated and hear everyone’s kind works about me,” she said. It’s always nice to hear the work you’re doing is valued and to get a pat on the back.

“It’s our work Christmas do next month and I’m looking forward to treating myself to a new outfit.

“I’m lucky to work with such happy and friendly people – that’s what makes being a care worker so rewarding.”
