A STATUE has been unveiled by the Prime Minister which honours the work of a leading heart specialist.

Gordon Brown visited Harefield Hospital this morning to unveil a statue of Prometheus, which has been installed to celebrate the groundbreaking work of Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub.

Sir Magdi has been credited for his work to repair damaged hearts and help them to regenerate using an artificial heart.

A group of Greek doctors and researchers have been working closely with the hospital on heart regeneration, and have donated the bronze statue of the mythological character to recognise the work Sir Magdi has done in this field.

The Prime Minister made a special visit today, and after the unveiling ceremony, he went to see some the work being done at the Harefield Heart Science Centre, in the grounds of the hospital, in Hill End Road, Harefield.
